Welcome

Welcome to our school, where we are dedicated to providing an excellent education for every child in every classroom, everyday. We create an inspiring environment filled with opportunities to learn, grow and discover their potential.

Introduction

At Lift Aylward, we believe every young person has the potential to lead a long, happy and successful life that leaves a positive legacy.

Our vision for all Lift Aylward alumni is clear: “This community inspires a love of learning and enables alumni to lead long, happy and successful lives that leave a positive legacy.”

Our mission is simple but ambitious: to provide an excellent education to every child, in every classroom, every day.

We are proud of our intentional culture - the Aylward Way - which is underpinned by our core values: Excellence, Integrity, Kindness, and Self-Control. These values are not just ideals; they are taught, modelled and celebrated every day through our Student Culture, morning meetings, assemblies and our Character Curriculum. We believe that children must be explicitly taught how to behave and succeed - and we take this responsibility seriously.

Achievement:  While many pupils begin their education at Lift Aylward from low academic points, Aylward’s curriculum allows them to progress well. Notably, disadvantaged pupils achieve above national averages in GCSE English and mathematics.

"...with a typically effective curriculum and teaching and strong inclusive support, the school enables pupils to progress well in different subjects and across year groups…”

Curriculum & Teaching: “The leadership has put in place an ambitious, well-thought-through curriculum. Teachers benefit from professional learning provided by Lift Schools and efforts to close knowledge gaps include daily literacy interventions and "master classes" for older pupils. The curriculum is ambitious for all pupils and is now typically well sequenced.”

Regarding Leadership

"Since autumn 2024, leaders have astutely identified and prioritised actions for improvement. Their carefully considered plans and approaches have had a marked positive impact on pupils’ academic education, behaviour and attendance".

Regarding behaviour & Attendance

“A revamped approach to behaviour management has established clear routines and high expectations, resulting in a calm learning environment. Persistent absence has also decreased significantly.”

Regarding Personal Development

“Character development is central to Aylward’s ethos, focusing on values such as integrity and self-control. The personal development programme is comprehensive, covering statutory health and social education while responding to modern challenges like online safety."Character development and values are at the heart of school life. Pupils understand and live by the values of excellence, integrity, kindness and self control".
